Film Movement short film- Alone

Alone

  • Our task was to create a short film to comply with a film movement we were given.
  • I was given Classical Hollywood. Classical Hollywood consists of invisible cuts and a clear beginning, middle and end. The characters have clearly definable traits, are active, and very goal oriented.
  • I decided to make my short film based on the 1990 film 'Home Alone'. I thought I would do this because then I would only need one cast member , so it would be easier to find one. I also thought it would be good to base it off of a film that already exists, because I could always look to the original for cinematography ideas.

Course Work- Narration

I plan to add a narration talking about cerebral palsy  and when Jess was diagnosed with it. Here is a rough version of the narration:  Jess,24, suffers from cerebral palsy. She was diagnosed at the age of???. Cerebral palsy is a group of lifelong conditions that affect a person’s movement and co-ordination. It is caused by a problem with the brain that occurs before, during or shortly after birth. Symptoms can include problems such as stiff or weak muscles. Ideas for my final film

First Idea- The Effects of Anxiety One idea that I have is to create a short film on anxiety, and how it effects different people. One way I could do this could be through the eyes of someone with anxiety and how it prevents them from doing daily tasks.  I could also do this through having a physical creature or person that symbolises someone's anxiety.  I could go about this by interviewing people anxiety, and how it effects their everyday life.  I watched a few of videos to get some inspiration for a short film on anxiety.  What Having Anxiety Feels Like This was a video including the narration of a sufferer from anxiety. She tells us about all the physical symptoms she experiences, and yet doesn't notice. She also uses metaphors and similes, such as 'My anxiety feels like fire.', to describe how she feels on a daily basis.  It also includes black and white footage.
