'Where have I been all your life' evaluation

‘Where have I been all your life?’   ‘Where have I been all your life’ is a short film that follows Liam’s journey to find his biological father and tell him that he is his son.   The film is part of the comedy genre. I followed Steve Neale's theory of repetition and difference to keep the audience interested, and yet still conform to the comedy genre. The short film conforms to the comedy genre through the use of Liam’s continuous awkward comments in a serious situation. For example, ‘you da man!’ when he has just told John that he is his son. By including this it means that this film conforms to the comedy genre, and gives a sense of familiarity to the audience. The short film also subverts from the genre. I did this in order to make sure the film was unique to other comedy films. I did this by including the dramatic twists of the plot, such as Liam going to the wrong house. This made the film a dramatic comedy and not just a comedy, thus keeping it unique. I u...

Coursework- where I am now

Final Idea  I have decided to go with the idea of a documentary   about the impact of a trained dog on someone with  cerebral palsy life. My other idea was a short film about what its like to live with anxiety. However, I am going to do the  documentary instead as the anxiety idea is very cliché and is very common. Whereas, the idea of looking into the impact of a trained dog on someone with  cerebral palsy is less common, and so people will find it more unique and interesting.  Micro elements for my film Mise-en-scene: Main, current setting would be in the individual's home. I would do this as her home will be a lot quieter than my house. It will also be good as she would feel more comfortable being asked questions within the comfort of her own home.  Hair and make-up, and costume will be whatever the individual is comfortable with wearing. It is a documentary, which is based on truth, so there would be no need to change the way sh...

Remake of a short film 'Script'

Image
After watching a collection of one minute short films, we chose to create a remake of the short film 'Script'. We decided that we would make certain improvements to the original, such as making the clock sound louder. We also decided that we would also make sure that the character Jenny, would actually sit down next to the author, like the script says.  With our remake we used a different sound effect. This effect included a ticking clock, as well as background music that increased in its intensity as the film developed. This worked well as it created a tense atmosphere and foreshadowed that something significant was about to happen. The original film had music that was too sombre and didn't really fit with the tension of the situation. However, our lighting was not an improvement. we filmed in a brightly lit classroom that took away from some of the tension of the situation. Whereas, the original film was filmed in a dimly lit room which created a more ten...

Macro Elements PowerPoint

Over the Summer break I created a power point on the macro elements of film form and the theories that can be applied to them. There were some Theories that I struggled to understand, however after watching online videos of them, I understood better .     M
